It's been some time but I believe there was something about the apocalypse, if I recall correctly? I have to confess I've been interested, since we may even have that in common.

to start off with: I never know where to start with this sort of thing so lmk if you're having a hard time following
in our game, the title monaka-chan gave me was "shsl harbinger"
and, er
that's me! that's what I am: the harbinger of the Fall
my presence in the physical world is the final sign of the impending death of human thought *
I'm not really human, although I prefer this form over the others I've taken in this era

* just for my world though!! (I think?) (the Fall can't happen anywhere else, but I'm not sure if my presence tips things one way or the other in different worlds)

Is it not? My world has the psychological concept, though I believe the closest to it being a real and nearly tangible thing is the Akashic Records. Which, to my knowledge, is moderately different.

Is that what the Fall is, then? The death of human thought through the destruction of the collective unconscious?

haruka-chan mentioned them so I googled them once we got out of the hotel and I could use the internet again
they're similar, sort of, except that the collective unconscious isn't physical and it isn't really a record
another term for it is the "sea of souls"

this is where things get a little tricky and particular
in my universe, an entity exists outside of the collective unconscious
"Nyx"
I don't really know how to describe her using language

but the prophecy of the Fall is actually a promise of what will happen when Nyx descends to the surface of the Earth
essentially, Nyx & the collective unconscious cannot coexist
her descent = the destruction of the collective unconscious

as the harbinger, I am both a herald of the Fall and the physical Avatar of Nyx
my presence is like a beacon, which draws her to the surface of the earth

So you are something resembling a fragment of that. But if that's the case, did you just manifest out of nowhere at some point prior to her descent?

...I only ask because it seems peculiar for an existence such as that to have a harbinger with his own free will.

yeah. it was an accident

I don't really want to go into the details but
shortly after I was brought into the physical world
I was torn apart and the largest piece of me was sealed away in the mind of a child
eventually, my fragmented pieces came together again and I was able to break free of it
but it was my time with her that allowed me to form a sense of self.

Children have a startling tendency to complicate things like the end of the world. It's astounding, really.

Regardless, I think I have a reasonable grasp of the matter now.
